WHO WE ARE

The Group for Action and Critical Study (GAEC-Africa) is:

An association of academics, initially composed of teacher-researchers (PER) of the UFR of Civilizations Religions, Arts and Communication (CRAC), Letters and Humanities (LSH), students, members of the administrative and technical staff (PAT) of the University Gaston Berger, people from the neighbourhoods, volunteers, professionals, thinkers, social activists, all concerned with contributing to the sensitization and mobilization for the rights of individuals and vulnerable groups, victims of historical, cultural, political, epistemic, economic, racial and social injustices.

A study group rooted in the field of critical humanities, jointly carrying out projects and programs towards public universities in Senegal and the region and other non-academic sites of knowledge production.

An African initiative in dialogue with the continent’s diasporas, oriented in the co-production of knowledge situated at the heart of community mobilizations to achieve emancipatory structural transformations that respect the environment and biodiversity.

A decolonial collective that promotes research with action through the organization of popular workshops, awareness campaigns, advocacy, experiential schools, but also the development of curricula and syllabi whose challenge is to rethink pedagogy as a tool for changing mentalities and behaviors.
